EXTENDED PROFILE
» APPEARANCE: Often the 'mysterious member' of the team even more than Robin, Raven is very much the kind of person who keeps to herself. Private and reserved, she's not one for sharing emotions, even with those she considers close friends. She's working on it, but regardless, she's far more likely to try and deal with a problem by herself for quite some time, only accepting help when she finally has
little recourse. This also makes it very difficult for her to trust
anyone, and building friendships takes time.

Raven is also quite sarcastic, possessed of a wit that wavers between mild sarcasm, smartassery, and biting wit. Often times it's spoken
completely deadpan, used as a defense against emotional frankness. Her
nark is also made to comment on the more ridiculous and unbelievable
things that happens to the Titans. Her sarcasm can often be
misunderstood as malicious or insulting when it's merely a matter of
how she speaks. This also limits her ability to build up friendships
beyond the Titans.

Of course, not even Raven blocks off all her emotions. She's
given honestly friendly smiles on several occasions, and the times she
loses her temper or becomes visibly upset can either be comedic or
utterly horrific, depending on the the circumstances. Her emotional
distance and coolness is understandable, though, given the fact that
her emotions are directly tied to her powers.

No other relationship of Raven's exemplifies both her intense snark
and her capacity for friendship and understanding better than her
relationship with Beast Boy. The way they act at times seems
reminiscent of a sitcom married couple, with Beast Boy acting idiotic
and hopelessly childish, and Raven taking the role of the snarky Only
Sane Woman. Underneath the surface, however, Raven and Beast Boy
actually have quite a strong friendship. As shown when Beast Boy and
Cyborg once traveled into her mind, Raven actually does find
Beast Boy funny, though the level of her (inner. very very inner)
amusement is very much depending on both circumstances and the level
of involvement in his shenanigans she's forced into.

Robin and Cyborg are variations of individuals who get along with
Raven the best. Though neither is exempt from her sarcasm by any
means, it's rarely meant in as biting a manner as against Beast Boy
and his latest activity, and she also lacks the general distaste for
their hobbies like she does for stereotypically feminine activities
Starfire partakes in. Cyborg is almost treated like the 'fun brother'
on multiple occasions, including the time Raven spent with him
tracking down and then helping to rebuild Cyborg's car.

Robin is a little different. She looks up to him, and views him almost
as her hero. Instead of the romantic implications that usually has,
however, she sees him more as family and as a very good friend. She's
certainly far less distant around him most of the time, and much more
relaxed.

Above all of this, however, Raven is quite mature for her age. She
often has sage advice or common sense statements regarding a situation
or problem, and though she errs on the cynical side of perspective a
lot, much can be said for just how calm she can usually remain when
under fire.

In all these ways, Raven is very different from the other female
Titan, Starfire. In some ways, these differences can also be
attributed to the way their powers work. Similar but different, both
women have powers connected to their emotional states, but the
difference between them sets the tone for how both act. Raven must
constantly keep her emotions in check lest she lose control of powers
that can cause quite a bit of damage, while Starfire's powers require
her to wear her heart on her sleeve. This difference in personality,
coupled with Starfire's friendly exuberance and Raven's natural
inclination towards isolation was the subject of difficulty between
the two for a while.

To put it simply, Raven is a girl who prefers to stick to herself, can
often be biting and sarcastic, but is quite mature and friendly when
one has gotten past her major emotional barriers.
» PERSONALITY: Raven is rather on the petite side, standing five feet four inches tall and weighing in at a modest one hundred twelve pounds. Surprisingly, her bust is moderately large for her size.
» BACKGROUND: Teenage superhero. Daddy is an Expy for Satan. She has issues. More here later.
» OTHER: She's somewhat (read: very) sarcastic, but that doesn't necessarily mean she dislikes a character! .
